Michael Dzwil, LCSW

Michael is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with extensive experience working with adolescents, young adults and their families in inpatient facilities and mental health clinics.  When it comes to treatment approaches, Michael believes in focusing on the underlying cause and not solely on the presenting symptom(s).  This approach enables us to get to the root of the behaviors and struggles being displayed. Michael believes that for there to be sustainable progress, it’s crucial for the family to also be involved in the treatment taking place. This helps improve communication in the home- and more importantly- it allows everyone to understand how they contribute.

Michael takes a very individualized approach when working with a person and their family.  He understands that one size does not fit all with regards to treatment modalities. Striving to meet the individual where he/she is at and developing achievable goals to improve quality of life and overall functioning is a primary approach for Michael.

While Michael has extensive experience working with many different diagnoses such as anxiety, depression and addiction, he is also quite passionate on the topic of excessive video game and technology use and how this may impact daily life. Aside from working with individuals and families in treatment, Michael has done over 50 professional presentations to schools, treatment professionals, and parents.   He is a leading expert in his field here on Long Island.
